Christmas Book Cards

Hi Everyone
I'd like to share an idea for a different kind of christmas card that I found on the Whiff of Joy Blog.
It's made to look like a book and the best bit is that you can put little treats inside, so it becomes a gift as well.
Here are the ones I made for my Grandchildren....

this is the inside filled with a chocolate snowman

and some more ....

I used Polkadoodles images and papers from their christmas cd plus some stamped images from my stash. I think its best to use thick card for these so that they are substantial if you want to use them as gift boxes. Of course they would also look great with a scene inside.

I hope you like them and give them a go.
Bye for now

LITTLE BOOKS

I'd like to share with you some little books that I bought from the pound store - a pack of 4 for £1 !!!I was so pleased to have found them, could'nt wait to get started.

I used stamps -rubber and digi- and papers and embelishments from my stash. This is a really good way to use up all those left over bits and pieces that we all keep - just in case!!!. Some I covered completely others just the front and backs. I made quite a few for my charity, these are just a few, and at that price I just could'nt go wrong.
Hope you like them,
Thanks for stopping bye,

Back to blogging

Well I'm finally making friends again with Mr Blogger. It's been too long, how time flies - or do we fly past time?
I thought I'd kick off by entering the Sassy Challenge 1-2-3. I do just adore these images and now they are in digi form they have become more affordable as well as being versatile for sizing etc.

I hope (no I will be back again) later in the week to show some books that I have covered - they only cost £1 for 4 - what a bargain!

See you soon

Bird Box Template

I have'nt blogged for a while, I must make an effort to blog more often. I wonder if anyone else feels as I do about blogging. I always find it an effort to blog mainly because I think why would anyone be interested in what I'm doing. I suppose it might come down to when I was a child having a diary and not letting anyone see it, although there was nothing to hide it was just that your diary was very very private. Does anyone else feel this way about blogging?

Anyway to get to the point of this post, I've been making bird boxes to sell at fetes during the summer for my charity The Brooke equine animal charity. It's aim is to alleviate suffering of millions of horses, donkeys and mules working in the poorest parts of the world, providing veterinary treatment and teaching owners how to look after their animals so that they live healthy lives and in turn work harder to provide a better living for the owners.

I'd like to share the template for these cuties, go to Inspired Papertry Ink It's a little bit different from the usual square box.

Here are some of the ones I made:

I hope you enjoy making them as much as I did.

Thanks for stopping bye.

Flower Palette

I'm really into making paper flowers at the moment and the Shabby Tearoom's challenge this week just fitted in with this.

I have drawn the image using a piece of wall art that my friend has hanging on her dining room wall as inspiration. I then coloured her with promarkers and distress inks. The bird and sentiment are Birds of a Feather from The Artistic Stamper. I made the flowers using a heart punch, coloured them with distress inks and then applied some clear glaze.

Well thats all for now, must get on sticking and cutting! Have a good weekend whatever your doing.
Thanks for stopping bye.

Show stopper Shoes

I was inspired yesterday by Kirstin's quirky Saturated Canary blog to make a shoe with a little difference. It also gave me a chance to make a flower using the beading mesh wire that I have had for sometime.

Hope you like it, have a happy day and thanks for stopping by.

A Lillies, cupcakes and games kinda Sunday

I finally got around to making some lillies on Sunday(yesterday).
My grandchildren were visiting so they helped (well they applied a little glue!)and am quite pleased with the result but I'm sure, as with everything, the more you practise the better you get. I found the instruction on a very talented lady's blog Valitasfreshfolds

Next on the list was the Cupcake making. This is where the kidos came into their own using a cupcake maker they got for Christmas.
Don't you think they look yummy? Tasted so good!

Finally to burn off the cupcakes we played the Xbox Kinect Athletics. I actually came lst in the hurdles (oh would'nt it be good it was for real!).

Hope you had a good kinda Sunday whatever you were doing.

Golden Nugget Box

I made this box for the Papercraft Planet 3D104 challenge. I printed off some polka dot paper from a cd that I have and embellished it with dotty ribbon, and a black rose that I made. The wrap around is a punched border stuck onto black paper.
I love making boxes and am trying ideas making paper lillies that I will post later. Bye for now, Vee

Shabby Tea Room Challenge 51

This is my entry for the Shabby Tea Room Challenge this week. I was particularly drawn to it because it features one of my favourite colour combinations, red and black.

For the dress I used a scalloped circle die and punched a heart shape for the bodice. I used the frame pieces of the scallop as the black embellishments, cut some sprigs of flowers from an embossed piece of card, made the flower from copy paper and inked it and applied glossy accents. The skirt was embossed using a border embossing plate.

It took quite a while to do but I'm pleased with the result hope you like it too.

Buttons and Bows

I've enjoyed making this card for the Shabby Tearoom Challenge. I did'nt have any buttons so I made faux ones - hope this meets the criteria. The stamped girl is Olivia from Crafters Companion and I coloured her using Promarkers. The bows were make from an old tassel that fell apart - oh I do like to recycle. Hope you like it.

Sunny Day!!!!

YA! suns shinning here in Kent UK, dust is showing!! (must make mental note to do some housework sometime.) But first take the doggie for a walk, she's just dying to go to her favourite coffee/cake shop. No not ME!

Have a fab day.

Paper Shoe Template

Today I thought I'd post some paper shoes I've been making. They are so, so easy, just one piece of card makes the complete shoe. No messing about cutting different pieces and trying to fit them together. Theres also a liner for the shoe. I've gone for a modern look but am going to try vintage with some lace as a trim, that I will post later. I'm going to fill them with candies and bath goodies ( not both in one shoe LOL).

I found the template on a wonderful treasure trove of crafting and baking delights skiptomylou enjoy.

Have a happy crafty day.

Baby Toby(Tobias) Challenge

It is always such a joy when a new member of the family is born and what a wonderful way that eiglas is celebrating by posting this challenge. My entry was made using the free digi image that eiglas posted.

I though it cried out to be water coloured but did'nt have any paper that would go through my printer so I used promarkers sparingly to create a water coloured look. I also used some paper flowers that I have just learned to make.
Hope you like it.
I have'nt blogged for a while now due to personal reasons, but I'm back on track now and have promised myself that I will get to grips with this blogging malarky in 2011 - hope it does'nt end up like the rest of my new year resolutions LOL!
I've been admiring the various types of paper roses that are available and I could never get the colour/size I wanted so I though I'd have a go at making my own. I'm quite pleased with the results.

I got the tutorial from creativeexpressionsdesigns and used flower punches instead of the stamp and to give some a vintage look used my fancy scissors around the edges of the petals. Hope you like them and give them a go
